In the 1920’s and 1930’s my great grandfather Henry Charles Short owned an atelier, shop and factory on opposite sides of Great Portland Street in London.

There are many family stories about the immaculate ladies he dressed, the exquisite pieces he created and the comings and goings of shop life in that era. 

At the heart of these stories was always his absolute attention to detail. He was known for taking precise care over the fabrics he chose, the functionality of the piece through considered  construction, and the placement of  subtle embellishments. This careful design ethos provided his clients with exquisite products that were made by hand and that would remain beautiful for a lifetime.

 

Our Vision

Fast forward to today and these tales continue to inspire Cox & Milner. Fashion is in my blood, and although we don’t make coats and dresses we wanted to create elegant everyday leather bags and hand luggage pieces with the same material beauty, care in construction and consideration to functionality and longevity as Henry had all those years ago.

My formal education in fashion design, 15+ year career in fashion and interior design and fashion lecturing experience has allowed me to establish a brand that is grounded in an understanding of design, fabric and construction.

These sensibilities have inspired our three key brand beliefs of Luggage for Life, Beautiful Utility and Taking Care.
